Lakeside Drug 'Castle' Is Up For Sale

Skaneateles, N.Y. - A sprawling lakeside mansion a New York man built with proceeds from the illegal drug trade is on the market for more than $4 million.

The Post-Standard reports that a Syracuse developer who bought the Skaneateles Lake mansion for more than $1.5 million at a 2012 auction has listed the property at $4.3 million.

Federal prosecutor say Charles Blomquist spent $1.7 million in drug money on the 6,000-square-foot mansion topped by a distinctive blue metal roof. Before he could finish building it, he pleaded guilty to money laundering and tax fraud and was sentenced to more than seven years in prison.

He gave up his unfinished home as part of his plea deal with prosecutors.

Blomquist battled for years with local code enforcement and neighbors, who called his mansion "the castle."
