An alert TSA agent at Hancock Airport in Syracuse uncovered a handgun that was about to make it into the cabin of a plane.
A Tompkins County woman was detained by Syracuse Police after the 9 millimeter semi-automatic gun was found in her carry-on bag. She claimed she had forgotten that the gun was left in her bag.
Guns are not allowed in the cabin of any plane, but the woman from Groton also had a second gun on board the plane, but it was checked in and declared properly and was below in the cargo hold.
Syracuse Police allowed the woman to put that second gun in her checked baggage and she was allowed to continue onto her destination, but she may receive a citation from the TSA.
