Father-Son Dispute Leads To Stabbing

Onondaga County Sheriffs Deputies  reports that a 22 year old LaFayette man has been charged with assaulting his father after stabbing him with a knife during a domestic dispute.

Around 12:49 am, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported stabbing at the Al-Bel Motel located on S.Salina Street in Nedrow. Prior to Deputies arriving on scene, the suspect fled from the motel but was located a short distance away on South Salina Street where he was taken into custody. Deputies charged 22 year old Brett A. Koons LaFayette, with assault in the 2nd degree.

Police say he allegedly stabbed his father, 45 year old  Elmer Koons  in the chest with a kitchen knife. As a result of the attack, Elmer sustained minor injuries. He refused to be transported to a hospital but was medically treated at the scene by TLC Ambulance.

It is unclear to why or what the argument was over which ultimately led the son to stab his own father. In addition to the assault charge, Brett was also charged with criminal mischief in the 4th degree.
