Cayuga County To Crack Down On Heroin

Cayuga County  Sheriff David Gould reports the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has formed a Heroin Interdiction Detail dubbed “Operation NARCTIP”.    This detail is made up of Uniformed Patrol Deputies as well as Detectives who will focus on the ever increasing Heroin problem in our community.

A tip line has been established that can receive both calls and text messages.  The detail will be working in conjunction with the Finger Lakes Drug Task force to act upon tips received from the public along with other sources in regard to heroin trafficking and heroin use as well as prescription drug abuse.  The goal of the operation is high profile enforcement along with public education and awareness which will hopefully lead abusers into treatment either voluntarily or through prosecution and court order.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office are distributing business cards advertising the new tip line.  Callers may remain anonymous.
