Canoe Capsizes In Seneca River

Police say a 55-year-old Syracuse man remains hospitalized in critical condition after his canoe capsized in the Seneca River in Lysander.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says Gene Mason of Syracuse was canoeing Sunday afternoon on the Seneca River with his 15-year-old stepson and 53-year-old brother-in-law when they overturned in the town of Lysander, outside Syracuse.

Deputies say nearby boaters rescued the teen and the two men.

The boy and the 53-year-old weren't injured, but deputies say Mason is in critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
